Crisis Communications for a Multi-Day Crisis
Crisis communications for a multi-day crisis is a topic we haven’t addressed in any of our prior master classes.
While many companies enter a crisis and resolve all of their communications in a single day, sometimes, the crisis spans days and weeks. When that happens, you need to be prepared to establish or participate in a Joint Information Command Center (JIC).
For this Crisis Communications Master Class, we are joined by Russ Roberts, former Americas Operations Manager for ExxonMobil. During his 20-year career at ExxonMobil, Russ experienced numerous, extended crisis events that required coordination with local, state, and federal agencies in a Joint Information Command (JIC) setting. One such crisis involved a pipeline that spilled oil in the Yellowstone River. In another instance, a neighborhood had oil running down the street after a pipeline ruptured. In both cases, while the ruptures involved external factors, the company still was left with the crisis response and the task of managing the reputational damage.
You’ll learn:
- The challenges of a multi-day event
- What it’s like when other agencies control your news conferences
- Secrets to preparing before the crisis
- Best practices for getting crisis messages approved quickly
- …and more
Perfect for:
- All CEOs, Presidents, & GMs
- All Public Relations and/or Member Services professionals
