If I made a mistake while creating a situation, how can I correct or edit my error?

Once all questions have been answered for a situation, you click Alert Team. This sends the details into the Situation Room, where you can edit and correct your error.

WARNING: When users are proofreading a situation, DO NOT waste time editing the language structure of the sentences.

ONLY correct errors.

ASK: Is this true or not true? If it is true, do not waste time editing the language structure of the sentences.

SPEED is important. Valuable time is lost when Users begin to debate how a sentence is worded.

A critical purpose of Situation Hub is to get information to key audiences quickly. The sentences have all been “lawyer” tested, in that no phrase should give fuel to a plaintiff’s attorney.

Additionally, all sentences are written for the spoken word so that they are easy to read at a news conference.

Do I need to answer all questions before using Alert Team?

You want all members of your internal team to know immediately what situation is unfolding. This is called “situational awareness.” Ideally, you want to answer all questions about a particular situation. However, if you have dual responsibilities and you must perform another task, you can click the Alert Team button. However, another user with Company User credentials will have to enter the Situation Room to retrieve the event and complete all questions. That user can then click the Alert Team button again so that all Users can view the details of the unfolding situation.

How to Publish a SituationHub Statement to Internet With One Click?

SituationHub was created as a crisis communications platform designed to quickly gather information about a crisis and then convert that information into a news release or public statement.

One thing that slows the communications process is the technical challenges of quickly publishing that statement to the Internet.

With SituationHub, you can publish to the Internet in just one click.

This video shows you how to do that.

Editing a SituationHub Statement: Who Has Edit Rights?

One important built-in feature in SituationHub crisis software is the ability to edit a crisis statement. There are various rights that a User and a Company Admin have to edit statements.

There are two types of users:

There are Users and Company Admins.

Everyone can log into SituationHub and initiate an event. This means you select a tab for the crisis that you are experiencing, you answer questions about the event, and then you can alert members of the crisis management team.

After the Alert Team function is used, a User only has “Read” rights and has no “Edit” rights.

A Company Admin has all rights that a User has. However, after the Alert Team button is used only a Company Admin can edit a finished statement and then publish it to the internet.

Distribution Guideline & Instructions

  • You must decide how, when, and if you will distribute a statement about your situation.
  • Your options include:
    • Publishing the completed statement to the web
    • Emailing the statement to all employees
    • Emailing the statement to the media
    • Sharing the statement in various ways with various stakeholders
    • If you use social media, you can share a link to your website statement. However, publishing too much to social media comes with consequences you may not like.
      • If this is a sudden crisis, your goal should be to publish a statement immediately on your website or to our public website.
      • If this is a smoldering crisis, use your best judgment to determine how soon you should share the information with your employees, the media, your customers, key stakeholders, and social media.
    • If any of these audiences are already spreading rumors about this situation, you should share the information as soon as possible to mitigate misinformation and rumors.
    • If you share the statement with stakeholders but fail to publish the statement to your website, you will face harsher scrutiny from the media than if you pro-actively alert the media.

Why do I need SituationHub?

SituationHub protects your revenue, reputation, and brand because it is the fastest way to share news about your emerging crisis.

SituationHub works at the speed of social media. That means that as rumors or realities are spread on social media, your company can take the narrative back from social media.

The SituationHub motto is “Fast, Factual & No Fluff.”

  1. SituationHub allows an employee to open the software as soon as a crisis is discovered, so they can answer specific questions about the event.
  2. Once the questions are answered, a single button allows that employee to Alert their crisis management team. SituationHub sends a text and email to members of the crisis management team with a link to a virtual Situation Room. Slow calling trees are eliminated.
  3. Team members click on the link and in the virtual Situation Room they can review facts about the event.
  4. The statement in the Situation Room is a ready-to-use media statement. It can be edited if facts need to be updated.
  5. Once executives agree that the facts are correct, a single click can publish the finished statement to the Internet.
  6. That one statement can be sent to the media, all employees, your customers, and your community.
